ĕmûnâh and AMEN!

I want to submit to you that every time you say 'Amen' to agree with God, you are uttering the Name of Jesus!

What?

Thought you were just agreeing, hey?

You are, in fact speaking the very Blood, the Life of Jesus that flows and is quickened in you by the Holy Spirit!
Amen, Hope and Faith

Remember our post on deferred or living Hope?

Well, I started that post by stating that: "Just like Grace, Hope is a Person ..."

I want to start this post by stating that Just like Grace and Hope, FAITH is a Person!

Where is Faith?

Before I get to the main scripture for this blog post, which incidentally is all about Faith, let me remind you of what Jesus said to His disciples in Mark 11:22-23 when they stood amazed at the withered fig tree the next day. Answering them He said: "Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."

What did He say about faith?

Well, the same word translated "in" can be much better translated "of" or better still: "Hold God's Faith" meaning: have the Faith of God.

Do you get me?

faith and Faith

There are two kinds of faith - (1) your faith and (2) the Faith of God.

Jesus is saying that from your side (you and me) we need faith.

Question: How much?

Answer: Less than that of a grain of mustard seed (Mat 17:20). In fact, just enough for you to receive the Faith of God through Who you will do anything through Faith!

Jesus is your Faith!

Are you sure Daniel?

Yes! Consider Hebrews 11:3: Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Dropping the words that are not in the Greek, it says: "faith observe the world created." It is by Faith, the Word Himself, that God created. This is exactly the way Jesus healed when He walked the face of the earth. He spoke His Word by Faith!

... and this is the very reason the author of the book of Hebrews starts the chapter and hall of faith with the words: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The Greek word for Faith is pis'-tis and it means: to be fully persuaded, totally convinced, absolutely assured, to have fidelity (confident trust).

Did I say anything about a main scripture for this blog post?

Yes! Paul, writing to the Romans: For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (Rom 1:16-17).

Can you paraphrase that for us?

Yes, certainly!

The Good News (Gospel) of Jesus living within us moves us from our little faith to having His Faith - Jesus. As it is written: Those who are justified shall live by Jesus!

Written?

Paul is quoting from Habakkuk (embraced) 2:4 where the prophet says: Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Habakkuk is saying the exact same thing.

Are you going to the Hebrew pictures again?

Yes, let's examine the Hebrew word for Faith

The Hebrew word for faith is 'ĕmûnâh meaning the same as the Greek, but emphasizing surety and firmness and fidelity and noticeably, truth and truthfulness.

Why?

Because faith comes from the same Hebrew root word as the word Amen or אָמַן 'âman (truely, so be it)!

But there is an astonishing picture here!

The pictograph for אָמַן spells out: Power of the Blood gives life!

The pictograph for Faith or אֱמֻנָה depicts: Power of the Blood gives life by Grace!

What happened?

Grace or ה was added.

That's it!

Faith comes by Truth with Grace!

Faith comes by agreeing with Grace!

Where does Faith come from?

That is why Paul can also say: Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God - Jesus! (Rom 10:17). Hear Jesus!

When in the English translations Jesus says: "Verily, Verily" or "Truely", throughout scripture He is saying in Hebrew: Amen! Amen! Remember in Hebrew the doubling of the word expresses the extensive form of the word. Thus, His words would mean: I tell you the absolute Truth!

Who is the Absolute Truth?

Who is Absolute Grace?

Jesus!
