Mindful of the Shepherd and sheep ... again!

Just as I thought I had the whole idea of the Shepherd and the sheep (see here and here), the Holy Spirit serves up a fresh message that totally lines up with the first two ...

Once again I am stunned!

The prophet Zechariah (mindful or remembered by Yah) had eight visions in his prophecy ranging from the very present situation the people of God found themselves in, right through to the second coming of Jesus.

So, how does this align with the Shepherd and sheep revelation?

The central theme (prophecy) of the book of Zechariah revolves around the Shepherd and the sheep.

As one of the more pertinent messianic prophets of the old covenant, Zechariah concludes with two major prophecies concerning the triumph of the kingdom of God:

1) How the Shepherd (Messiah) would be rejected (chapters 9 to 11); and
2) How the Sheperd (Messiah) would reign (chapters 12 to 14).

Zechariah explains in chapters 10 and 11 how the Shepherd Himself will visit His own flock - manifest in the likeliness of human flesh, Jesus ...

... And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace [chânan or חנן - absolute favour] and of supplications [chânan again]: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Zec 12:10

chânan or חנן - the Hebrew root word for favour with the word-picture depicting: divided life secured.

What is it to you?

His mind is so preoccupied with His beloved (David), that He destroys the very thing (death) that divided His beloved from Him! 1 Cor 15:55-56

Wow!

Isn't this amazing?

The Shepherd Who reveals Grace (Himself) to the ones, once divided from Him, so the that they may latch onto Life Himself  (see above links) - the very One whom they have pierced!

... All this prophesied by the prophet with the name Mindful of God!

When the author of the book of Hebrews says that God is mindful of us (Heb 2:6), he uses the Greek word mimnēskō, meaning to be fixated; to be mind-fixed - this is Jesus enduring the cross for the joy set before Him! Heb 12:2

Indeed, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah is holiness unto the LORD of hosts ... Zec 14:21

He was and is and will always be ... ever so mindful of you.

HalleluYAH!
