Marvelous!

Beloved of Christ,

Consider Matthews 14:31:
"And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?"
There are only a few instances in the Word whence Jesus marvelled.
Marvelled?

The Greek word marvelled is thaumazō: to be astonished; to wonder; by implication to admire: - admire, have in admiration, marvel, to be filled with amazement, surprise and wonder over something

Jesus did so only when seeing either unbelief or great faith.

Little Faith

In the above passage Jesus addresses Peter who waivers after proceeding with his walk on the stormy waters.

Interestingly, the Greek word for doubt is distazō: to think twice, to be double-minded or to doubt or waiver.

He was right there ... and they doubted

Jesus marvelled over unbelief. And he marvelled because of their unbelief Mar 6:6 Compare the word for doubt with the Greek word for unbelief or apistia meaning unfaithfulness, faithless, in want of faith, unbelief and weakness of faith.

And there is also disbelief such as in Romans 11:32: For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all

... and fell in disbelieve

Wow! The Greek word here for disbelief is apeitheia which means obstinacy, to be contrary to (God's will), obstinate or in opposition to the divine will, or rebelling against the truth.

We have a choice

You see, it all has to do with what we choose to believe.

And Faith?

What is faith? And how great is our faith supposed to be? ... And Whose faith should we be harnessing.

Jesus marvelled over the faith presented by the Roman centurion:
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel Mat 8:10.
The Greek word for faith here is pistis meaning: to be of great persuasion, conviction (of truth, or the truthfulness of God), reliance upon Christ for salvation; assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.

What is this faith? The Word explains in exact terms:
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1
Faith is Jesus!

No one had more faith in you than Jesus!

He is your Faith, the beginning and end of your Faith!

How great?
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Mat 17:20
What is our part?

Our's is just a knowledge ... because He helps us with the rest. He stretched out His hand on the cross for this very purpose. So that we can have His faith. Countering unbelief Jesus said in Mark 11:22:
Have faith in God
... and God will clothe those of ye of little faith. Mat 6:30

How much do you get?

Remember or post on Hoe Much (click here?)
God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Rom 12:3
"The measure" is in the definite article. It is not a measure. There is only one measure. The Full Measure - Jesus!
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith Heb 12:2.
... so that He may marvel over His finished work! Amen!
